Towards Koreelah

$700.00

2026 - oil on panel - 20×24cm - tasmanian oak float frame

This study captures the layered landscape around Koreelah during the later hours of the day, when the light begins to flatten and unify the forms across the valley. The distant ridges gradually lose definition, softened by the atmosphere between viewer and subject.

I was drawn to the rhythm of the land moving back through space, and the way scattered vegetation breaks up the foreground while guiding the eye toward the larger mass of the mountain beyond.

Painted from life, this work reflects the importance of direct observation in understanding how tone and colour create the illusion of depth.
